Call for Applications: Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education Book Review Editor

Center for Women Womxn in Student Affairs
August 12, 2020

APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 16, 2020

NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education seeks applicants for the position of book review editor of the Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education (JWG). The selected candidate will work with Co-Editors Jeni Hart and Margaret Sallee. Applications should be submited via the application form on the NASPA website.

Scope: Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education publishes scholarship that centers gender-based experiences of students, faculty, and staff while examining oppression, including but not limited to patriarchy, sexism, trans* oppression, and cisnormativity as they intersect with other systems of domination. The journal is particularly interested in manuscripts that not only focus on a gender-based group but also critically interrogate the ways in which gender has been used as a construct to limit opportunities and shape outcomes and experiences. The journal publishes high-quality and rigorous scholarship that can be used by NASPA members and others to transform daily practice, research, and the field of higher education. JWG is published three times a year in both print and electronic formats. It is published by NASPA, the foremost professional association for student affairs administrators, faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students, in collaboration with Taylor and Francis.

Qualification and responsibilities: The book review editor shepherds book reviews from solicitation through publication. The book review editor is responsible for identifying and procuring books for review, soliciting reviewers, and working with authors on one or more drafts of reviews. The journal prides itself on providing developmental feedback to authors in all stages of their careers; such an expectation carries over into book review feedback. Candidates for the position should enjoy seeking out new texts for review as well as working with others on their writing.

Application Requirements:

  • Cover letter describing the applicant’s interest, qualifications, and areas of expertise
  • Curriculum vitae or résumé

Submit your application by completing the application form on the NASPA website.

Applications will not be complete without uploading a cover letter and a CV or résumé.

Please circulate this call to colleagues who may have an interest in applying.
