Overview of the Global Division

The primary purpose of the Global Division is to represent the global interests of NASPA members. The NASPA Global Division represents student affairs educators, practitioners, and professionals around the world.

The Division advances global student affairs issues, advocating for intercultural competency and global awareness throughout the association and in the field of student affairs around the world. The Division advocates for global education, and preparing and implementing programs that support student development and professional development worldwide. Collectively, the Division recommends globally oriented strategies to carry out charges from the NASPA Board of Directors.

Award of Distinction

Each year, the NASPA Global Division recognizes the outstanding contributions of members who are transforming higher education through exceptional programs, innovative services, and effective administration. The Global Division Award of Distinction recognizes the outstanding contributions of an individual in support of global student affairs, and/or the work of the NASPA Global Division, outside of the U.S. and Canada. Winners are recognized and honored at the 2026 NASPA Annual Conference. 

Award Criteria

The individual must be a current NASPA member at the time of nomination. Self-nominations are accepted. Individuals who currently serve on the NASPA Global Division Board are not eligible to receive the award. 

The individual must demonstrate at least two of the following:

  • Outstanding contribution* to the student affairs profession outside of the U.S. & Canada; or

  • Outstanding contribution* to their institution outside of the U.S. & Canada; or

  • Outstanding contribution* to NASPA.

*** An “outstanding contribution” is defined as one that advances the student affairs profession in response to the needs of unique global contexts through innovative practices, use of technology, and collaborations that benefit students and professionals living and working outside the U.S. & Canada.

 

 

The contribution being recognized must have been made within the past 3 academic years and may have been made prior to the nominee’s NASPA membership. The nominee may be living/working anywhere in the world (including the U.S. & Canada) at the time of nomination.

Winner Notification Mid-January 2026 
 
The award will be presented at the 2026 NASPA Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
