Access + Equity

NASPA is committed to ensuring that the Association and the profession benefit from the experiences, backgrounds, and talents of all of our members.

Grounded in data and informed by our values of inquiry, innovation, inclusion, and integrity, NASPA strives to understand and remove barriers to access, opportunity, and equity in higher education, student affairs, and the association.

We do this by providing professional development geared to meet evolving needs across the career lifespan; broadening access to leadership, supportive communities, and mentors; creating and sharing research and recommendations for institutions and practitioners; and advocating for legislation and policy that support holistic student success.

Important Initiatives

Public Policy Hub

NASPA has created a policy resource hub to share resources and strategies, track legislation, solicit input, and provide opportunities to gather and learn. Visit for regular updates and information.

Indigenous Peoples

First-generation Students

Today, one-third of currently enrolled undergraduate students identify as first-generation — approximately 5 million students. Only 27% complete a bachelor’s degree in four years, significantly lower than continuing-generation peers. Learn more about the work of FirstGen Forward.

Get Involved

NASPA's Knowledge Communities (KCs) are specialized groups centered around functional areas and identities within Student Affairs. KCs provide spaces for members to find their niche within the larger organization and profession.
