The NASPA Board of Directors annually selects candidates to run for NASPA Board Chair. The NASPA Board is seeking nominations or self-nominations for the 2025-2026 NASPA Board Chair-Elect. The individual in the role will play a vital role in Association leadership and meeting the goals of the NASPA Strategic Plan.  The commitment to this position runs for three years, as the Board Chair-Elect in 2025 - 2026, Board Chair in 2026 - 2027, and Past Board Chair in 2027 - 2028. 

A Conversation with the Board Chair-Elect

As a volunteer-led organization, the Board Chair position provides direction and leadership to the Association and the student affairs profession. Nominated individuals must be a current NASPA member (Voting Delegate, Professional Affiliate, or Faculty Affiliate), and it is recommended that this individual has had considerable leadership roles within the Association. All self-nominations/nominations need to be provided by October 1, 2024. Considerations for Self-Nomination or Other Nominations

  • Requirements and Suggested Experience:
    • Active experience with one or more of the following:
    • NASPA Board of Directors
    • Knowledge Communities
    • Regional Boards
    • Conference Committees
    • Task Forces, Institutes, or Symposium Leadership
  • Time Commitment
    • Three Years (Board Chair-Elect, Board Chair, Past Board Chair)
    • Regular Meetings with NASPA President, Executive Committee, and Board Meetings
    • Travel to Board Meetings three times a year
    • Additional time engaging in leadership issues within each year
  • Institutional and NASPA Support
    • Support of your president/chancellor or supervisor, the individuals with whom you work (particularly your administrative support)
    • Resources required such as a laptop, smart phone and perhaps a separate account for NASPA emails should that be required.
    • NASPA provides financial support for NASPA-related travel for most meetings outside the NASPA Annual Conference.
