IPKC Distinguished Service in the Profession Award
This award honors a full-time practitioner in the field of student affairs whose exemplary service and leadership have positively impacted the growth and development of Indigenous students. The recipient of this award has made distinctive contributions to their campus, the profession, and the educational experiences of Indigenous students.
Criteria
Evaluation of nominees will be made based on demonstration of the following criteria:

The nominee has demonstrated expertise of practices that promote the learning and development of Indigenous students.

The nominee has displayed deep care and noteworthy service to Indigenous students.

The nominee has contributed significantly to the profession and their institution (e.g., presented a paper or workshop locally or at a tribal, state, regional, or national conference; conducted research; mentored Indigenous graduate students and new Indigenous professionals; campus committee involvement; and professional association involvement).
If the IPKC award committee believes that none of the nominees meets the criteria for the award, the committee may recommend that no award be presented. Conversely, if the committee believes more than one nominee is worthy, multiple awards may be given.
Eligibility
Nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements to be recognized:

The recipient must have three (3) years of professional service at the time of nomination.
Nomination Requirements

Nominators must be current members of NASPA. Self-nominations are welcomed.

Nominators must submit information via the nomination form.

A letter of support must be submitted by an individual other than the nominator. The letter should include evidence that substantiates the nominee’s contributions.
Recognition
-
The awardee will be recognized by the Indigenous Peoples Knowledge Community Leadership Team at the NASPA Annual Conference.

The award will consist of a cultural memento or a certificate of achievement.
