Dr. Bridget Kelly Appointed Executive Editor of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice
June 29, 2017
NASPA is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bridget Turner Kelly as Executive Editor of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice (JSARP). Her three-year term will begin in July 2017.
With a career in higher education and student affairs spanning more than 16 years, Dr. Kelly has held faculty positions across the United States. She is currently an associate professor in the School of Education at Loyola University Chicago, where she works with faculty, students and practitioners to prepare new student affairs professionals. Previously, she held faculty positions in student affairs preparation programs at Virginia Tech, The University of Vermont, and Seattle University.
Dr. Kelly’s scholarship focuses on marginalized populations in higher education; specifically, she studies the experiences of students of color at predominantly White campuses, women and faculty of color at research universities, and how all students can become socially just educators. Her research appears in numerous student affairs and higher education journals, including two articles that have received more than 100 citations each and have been cited in AMICUS briefs for U.S. Supreme Court cases. She is co-editor of the forthcoming book Engaging Images for Research, Pedagogy, and Practice: Utilizing Visual Methods to Understand and Promote College Student Development (Stylus, 2017).
In addition to her own scholarship, Dr. Kelly has actively served as an associate editor for JSARP for the past five years, providing constructive feedback to authors. She also served as an editorial board member for the Journal of College Student Development for nine years, for the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Journal for three years, and has reviewed numerous manuscripts for book publishers and other scholarly journals.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Kelly on her appointment!
