University of Arkansas - Fayettville, AR

Masters in Higher Education - Student Affairs

Hometown: Garden City, Kansas
Undergraduate Institution: Pittsburg State University - Pittsburg, Kansas
Previous Institutions: Coffeyville Community College
Why you chose your graduate institution?
I chose the University of Arkansas because at Region IV-West gatherings, I found myself gravitating towards the faculty and staff I met from the institution. They promoted their program well and once I visited the beautiful campus, I knew it was where I wanted to be.
Why did you want to go to graduate school?
It’s a bit funny - I never imagined going to graduate school, but only because, for the longest time, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. But once I figured out that I could work with fraternities and sororities for the rest of my life and get paid for it, I knew that I would do whatever necessary to achieve that goal - so here I am!
What areas are you interested in most?
Fraternity and Sorority Life is the “meat and potatoes” of my existence, my other interests are in (but not limited to) Multicultural Affairs, Assessment, Orientation, and Student Leadership Programs.
What is your dream job?
I feel like my first “lightbulb moments” in my journey with Student Affairs, was attending UIFI and then mentoring for FuturesQuest, so ultimately, my dream job is to be the Director of Education and Leadership Programs for the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
If you could take a year off from work/school what would you do?
I would travel the world and eat my way through every country - because material possessions have a price tag - new, meaningful experiences have infinite value and bring greater happiness and fulfillment to my life.
The best gift you have ever received?
I think the best gift anyone can be given is time. Time with people you love and care for, time to do what you love doing, and time to appreciate the little things. Time is the greatest gift because it’s the only thing you wish you had more of and the one thing you can never get back.
