The editors of the Journal of College and Character invite manuscripts in response to articles in the 20th anniversary issue of the journal published in February 2020. Featured authors are Alyssa N. Rockenbach; Marcia B. Baxter Magolda; Anne Colby; Michael J. Cuyjet; Larry D. Roper; Eboo Patel (and Benjamin P. Correia-Harker); and Richard P. Keeling.

The theme of the issue, “Educational Strategies for Cultivating Character in College,” is intended to promote robust and varied reflections on the broad topic of cultivating character in college. Manuscripts should address either the special issue’s general theme or specific articles. Some possible considerations for manuscript development include:

  1. What factors have the greatest impact on the development of character in undergraduate students?
  2. What educational practices most effectively promote moral and civic development in college students?
  3. What is the current state of moral and civic education in America’s colleges and universities?
  4. What are some of the compelling reasons for why colleges and universities should actively encourage the moral and civic education of their students?
  5. What concerns do you have about the moral character outcomes of undergraduate education today?

There is no deadline for submission, and publication of accepted manuscripts is ongoing. Qualitative, quantitative, conceptual, literature review, or philosophical works will be considered. Authors must follow submission guidelines for peer-reviewed articles at tandfonline.com/action/authorSubmission?show=instructions&journalCode=ujcc2 and submit on the journal submission site at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/naspa_jcc.
