Support the Ruth Strang Research Award this #GivingTuesday!

Supporting the Profession Center for Women
November 27, 2018 Jennifer Wegner Carnegie Mellon University

In the last week, my personal email account exploded with holiday shopping deals (who knew I was subscribed to so many retailers?) and emails from the various organizations and causes that I support. While I’ve been quick to delete the retail emails, I’ve saved the emails from the many organizations as I prepare for #GivingTuesday. One of the gifts I’m most proud to make is to the Ruth Strang Research Award. The Ruth Strang award recognizes researchers who contribute to the literature about women in higher education.

Each year at the annual conference, the Center for Women celebrates the Ruth Strang award recipient. It is because of the generous support of donors and the NASPA Foundation that the award recipient receives a small stipend to honor their contributions. I hope that you will join me as part of #GivingTuesday in a gift to the Ruth Strang Research Award when you support NASPA. It’s as simple as indicating the Ruth Strang Research Award when designating your gift, https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=naspa&id=36

I recognize that we each support organizations that are dear to us for many reasons and that financial resources given today will be distributed among many causes. For me, the Center for Women honors the history of the National Association for Women in Education (NAWE) and NASPA, the mentorship and leadership that I’ve benefitted from as a woman in the field, and striving to create a more inclusive and just profession for the next generation. My gift to the Ruth Strang Award won’t be the largest gift that NASPA receives today (sorry!) but it does demonstrate my commitment to the Center for Women and the ways that the Center supports women in higher education.

In advance, thank you for your support of the Ruth Strang Research Award and the Center for Women. Your gift to the Center for Women and the NASPA Foundation is much appreciated! And if you are on Twitter, please shout out with @NASPA_Women and @NASPAGives.

Jennifer Wegner is the Board Chair of the NASPA Center for Women and serves as the Executive Director of the Undergraduate Business program in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
