Volunteer & Engagement Opportunities
Region IV-W
April 6, 2021
As we wrapped up the 2021 NASPA Annual Conference a couple weeks ago, I was reminded how much joy the NASPA IV-West brings to my life! Even though we could not be together, it was still great to connect with our IV-West colleagues throughout the week. This past year has been a huge adjustment for us all, we were separated from our campus and professional affiliation colleagues. We’ve had to think outside the box for A LOT of what we do in our professional role which was and is overwhelming at times. We got into the flow of things and something new would come up and we would adapt, sometimes it felt like that was a weekly, if not daily adjustment. As higher education professionals, we were made to adapt and think on our toes. For that, THANK YOU! Thank you for being dedicated to your professional, your students, and colleagues. I know this year was hard and sometimes unbearable but thank you for being a part of our IV-West community! I hope we will be together again in person soon but for now, I will take seeing your smiling faces on Zoom/Ring!
If you are new to our region or looking for new ways to get involved, NASPA IV-West and NASPA are always looking for individuals interested in volunteering. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available which you can see right now on Volunteer Central. Region IV-West serves ten states and two Canadian provinces. Each state and province has a membership coordinator who create meaningful involvement opportunities for members, promote the benefits of NASPA membership at state meetings that might include potentially new NASPA members; develop processes to recruit and retain both individual and institutional members. State Membership Coordinators serve as active and vocal members of the Regional Advisory Board and assist the Regional Director and myself to develop the vision and goals for the board and membership specifically. State Coordinators serve in the volunteer role for two years. Typically, terms start and end at the annual conference but are always looking to fill positions that are not filled at any given time. The following positions are available for the 2021-2023 term:
- Colorado
- North Dakota
- New Mexico
- Oklahoma
- South Dakota
- Wyoming
- Manitoba
- Saskatchewan
If you are interested in becoming a State Membership Coordinator, please visit Volunteer Central for more details about the volunteer positions or email me directly, awendel@ksu.edu.
