#wisachat: Making the Most Out of Your Conference Experience

Today is the day for another #wisachat as we get ready to head to the national conference.  This is an excellent opportunity to get introduced to some of the people that you can meet in person at the conference.  There are two different times for the #wisachat on Twitter.  The chat is today at Noon and 7 p.m. EDT.  At one of those times, log into Twitter and start to follow our hashtag - #wisachat or search for our Twitter handle – wisa_kc.  The topic is, “Making the Most Out of Your Conference Experience.” 

Here are some ways to make the most out of your Twitter chat experience. 

1.     Keep an eye out for new questions that the moderators will post periodically.  As conversation dies down a little from the first question, they’ll post a second in order to keep the conversation going.  But, be aware that sometimes others are a little behind, so people may still be responding to the previous question.

2.     Be sure to include Q1, Q2, or other appropriate question number in your response.  That way it’s clear to everyone which question you’re answering. 

3.     Feel free to tag other chatters in your responses.  Just like a face-to-face conversation, sometimes people’s responses will make you think of new ideas, etc.  It’s nice to know that you’re helping inspire additional thoughts. 

4.     If you’re having a good conversation with another chatter or just like their ideas, feel free to follow them on Twitter (if you’re not already).  This might help you meet up with a few people in person at the conference, especially if you’re both tweeting about the same session.  You might be sitting right next to each other!

5.     If you miss either scheduled time, it’s completely okay for you to search out the chat at another time and continue the conversation.  You might want to reply to people directly at that point, but you can still use the hashtag and respond to the WISA Twitter account (wisa_kc).
