Engaging in Non-Violent Protest on Campus

Civic Engagement Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement
Seth Levi

Many white supremacist efforts in recent months have targeted college campuses. Universities have become the battleground for "alt-right" protesters who focus their anger about their "endangered status" on educational institutions as the breeding ground for their enemy, social justice warriors. Students understandably want to stand in protest to this hatred and these groups' efforts. Join us for this webinar with the Southern Poverty Law Center as they discuss the development of their new guide: The Alt-Right on Campus: What Students Need to Know, and its SPLC on Campus efforts to engage student activists.

Learning Outcomes

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • identify the extent of bias incidents on campuses since Spring 2016;
  • articulate the history of white supremacist efforts on college campuses; and
  • identify resources for campus professionals to use when working with student activists who want to engage in nonviolent protest on campus.
