Support Services for Respondents in Sexual Misconduct Cases

Based on data from a national landscape survey, NASPA is excited to offer a one-day training on implementing services and providing resources to responding parties involved in sexual misconduct cases at your institution. Presenters will explore the myriad factors to consider when providing equitable services and participants will engage in discussions about what specific duties respondent services personnel have in helping a responding party navigate the investigation, interim measures, sanctioning, and re-entry processes. Presenters will help participants understand the importance of creating clear distinctions between survivor advocacy services and respondent support services to prevent re-traumatization of survivors while creating
equitable systems of support.

Individuals who attend this session will:

  • Articulate how respondent service personnel and their programs fit within the organization of their specific institutions
  • Recognize the range of perpetration behavior in which students might engage
  • Identify a range of services that colleges and universities should provide to responding parties
  • List available intervention strategies available to respondent service personnel
  • Understand how to document and maintain records of support services provided
