Graduate Associate Program (GAP)

Graduate

The NASPA Graduate Associate Program (GAP) is an initiative to increase leadership opportunities of graduate students within NASPA. GAP is a cohort based model that strives to give future student affairs professionals unique ways to connect and engage with NASPA and their peers.

About

Since 2009, GAP has been providing graduate students in the field of higher education a chance to connect, learn, and grow from one another by volunteering for and representing NASPA. Initially envisioned by NASPA summer interns Jimmy Doan and Danielle Howard, the NASPA Graduate Associate Program (GAP) is an initiative to increase leadership opportunities of graduate students within NASPA. Today, GAP has grown into a fully fledged year-long program that allows graduate students to grow and flourish in the field.

NASPA GAPs work collaboratively with other graduate programs and students throughout the world to help promote NASPA events, publications, and offerings. GAPs also have the opportunity to provide their unique perspective to NASPA by sharing their own NASPA journey with the organization and with others. NASPA GAPs also volunteer within the greater NASPA community to provide assistance and support on a variety of initiatives.

Most importantly, GAPs also participate in a shared cohort model that allows them to meet once a month and connect with other graduate students in the field to start their professional development early. GAP is a professional development experience Graduate Students can take advantage of from the comfort of their own home, office, or working space!
