NASPA GA is the state connection for NASPA members. Our purpose is to help you connect with other professionals and enhance your professional development needs within the state of Georgia and in our region (Region III) through a variety of different professional development opportunities.
Mission: To connect both graduate students and professional members within the state of Georgia, to provide a community for professional development, resources, and collaborations.
Vision: To be a thriving community of student affairs practitioners, within the state of Georgia.

- Advocacy: Providing a forum for voice, support, and guidance in order to better serve our students and profession.

How do I join NASPA GA?
You are automatically considered a member of NASPA GA when you join NASPA. There are various NASPA membership options, but the best value is an institutional membership, which allows all staff members on your campus to purchase individual membership at a discounted cost. No additional dues are required for NASPA GA.
Message from the Director
Welcome to NASPA-GA! I encourage you to take advantage of the many resources and connections we have available to you through your membership in NASPA. Our board is relatively new and we still have open positions! Joining thee NASPA-GA Board is an incredible opportunity to leave your mark and to create many meaningful experiences for our NASPA members in the state of Georgia. Graduate Student Development Coordinator
The Graduate Student Development Coordinator is responsible for NASPA-GA initiatives and activities related to graduate programs and graduate students in the state of Georgia. They serve as a member of the NASPA-GA Executive Board and report to the State Director.

NASPA-GA held its 3rd Annual Drive-In at Georgia Southern University's Armstrong Campus in Savannah, GA on February 1-2, 2024. We welcomed and connected with over 80 Georgia student affairs professionals! Thanks to all who attended, presented and volunteered. Thank you also to our sponsor, Inspired Branding, who donated our drive-in tote bags.
NASPA GA Awards
Each year NASPA recognizes outstanding members by honoring individual professionals with national and regional awards. The NASPA GA Awards are an opportunity for NASPA GA to embrace the NASPA recognition tradition by honoring members in our state for their outstanding contributions to the Higher Education and Student Affairs profession.
Nominate a colleague for one of our inaugural awards. Recognize student affairs professionals who are doing great work across the state of Georgia. Nominations are due by Friday, January 3, 2025. Nominators and winners will be notified prior to the end of the conference registration period. We are finalizing the award submission form which will be up soon.
Awards will be presented in-person at the 4th annual NASPA GA Drive-In Conference, February 6-7, 2025 at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, GA.

Emerging Leader Award for Graduate Students
The NASPA Georgia Emerging Leader Award for Graduate Students recognizes a graduate student who has shown exceptional leadership potential and dedication to the field of student affairs. This award celebrates an individual who:
- Demonstrates a commitment to NASPA’s core values
- Actively contributes to their campus community
- Exhibits outstanding promise as a future leader in higher education.
New Professional Award
The NASPA Georgia New Professional Award recognizes an outstanding professional within 1-3 years in their professional career who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, initiative, and impact within the field of student affairs. This award celebrates an individual who:
- Shows great promise through their contributions to their institution, NASPA, and the broader higher education community.
- Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and grow in student affairs
- Positively influences students, staff, and other campus partners
- Embodies enthusiasm and dedication to student affairs work
Outstanding Student Affairs Professional Award
The NASPA Georgia Outstanding Professional Award recognizes a student affairs professional with over five years of dedicated service who has exemplified excellence, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to their institution and the field at large. This award honors an individual who:
- Consistently goes above and beyond in their role
- Demonstrates a profound dedication to student success, collaborative leadership, and the advancement of student affairs
- Reflects NASPA’s core values and has made a positive impact on students, colleagues, and their campus community.
Inclusive Excellence Award
The NASPA Georgia Inclusive Excellence award recognizes a professional’s efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in education. This award celebrates an individual who:
- Is recognized by students and colleagues as an advocate who takes a stand on critical issues related to diversity, and inclusion,
- Provides leadership and direction in fostering a culture of respect for multicultural values and the acceptance of individual and group differences.
Service to Students Award
The NASPA Georgia Service to Students award recognizes a professional who consistently gives time and effort counseling, advising and supporting students. This award recognizes an individual who:
- Made contributions above and beyond the assigned duties of their position,
- Is committed to personalized student experiences and evidence of successful efforts in humanizing the campus community,
- Has high quality interaction with individual students and student groups
- Exhibits a genuine and since sense of caring and concern for students
Outstanding HBCU/ MSI Professional Award
The Outstanding HBCU/MSI/HSI Professional award recognizes an individual member with demonstrated leadership and commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), minority serving institutions, Hispanic service institutions and/or the profession. This award celebrates an individual who:
- Makes significant contributions to mentorship, advocacy, and student support
- Exhibits care in creating a campus environment that promotes student learning and personal development
- be currently employed at an HBCU/MSI/HSI in Georgia with at least two years of HBCU/MSI/HSI experience.
Outstanding Service as HESA Faculty Award
The Outstanding Service as HESA Faculty award recognizes the consistent and exemplary teaching and mentorship of graduate students in higher education and student affairs programs at Georgia colleges and universities. This award honors an individual who:
- Has a record of scholarly achievement through publications and conference presentations,
- Makes significant efforts to collaborate with students on publications or conference presentations,
- Is recognized as a mentor by students entering the profession.

Georgia offers multiple graduate prepartion programs for aspiring Higher Education and Student Affairs professionals. Our univeristies also provide options for professionals seeking a terminal degree to further enhance their experience as student affairs practitioners or transition to faculty.
