Message from the Director

Greetings!
The work we do to support student success and create opportunities for growth and development is more critical than ever in the ever-evolving landscape of higher education. Regardless of when we entered this field, we were driven by a shared passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference. I encourage all of us to reflect on what inspired us to join this profession and to come together in support of one another.
As members of Region II, I invite you to explore meaningful ways to stay connected. Whether you're joining virtual or in-person sessions, mentoring, facilitating, or sharing your expertise in other ways—your time, creativity, and support are truly invaluable. I encourage you to engage in ways that are meaningful to you and fit within your busy schedule.
As we move forward together, I’m honored to serve as your director. I look forward to building on the strengths of our Region II community—and to a term defined by collaboration, connection, and a shared commitment to excellence.
NASPA Region II is on the move!

July 2025 Spotlights!
Hannah Lindeblad, Director of Student Communication, Montclair State University
"I am proud to be the leader of a centralized communications arm at our university, which lives within the division of Student Development and Campus Life. Our programs and services directly impact student success and belonging by reaching them where they are, ensuring they receive proper and timely messages, and feel connected to the campus through our mascot teams. Students receive weekly "Red Hawk News" emails keeping them "In the Loop" as well as targeted newsletters that direct them to take necessary action throughout the year as needed (think paying their bill and registering for classes, for example). We also manage a few social media channels with engaging content. Overall, our multi-layered communication approach has seen a lot of positivity since our establishment in 2014!"
Jack Nesmith, Coordinator of Student Activities, Ramapo College of New Jersey
"Within my role, I've been able to create new initiatives, programs, and goals focusing on student leadership development, commuter affairs, and late night/ weekend programming supervising two student staff areas and advising various organizations at Ramapo. This past year, I've been able to promote effective second year student success advising the Sophomores Advancing In Leadership (SAIL) Program and developing the inaugural Juniors United Motivational Program for third year students as a new pillar for student leadership. In addition to my professional role, I'm also a proud member of the Ramapo College of New Jersey First Generation Action Team, founder of the Project L.E.A.D. professional development and leadership series, and an Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Mentor creating programming for first generational and diverse scholars as a proud alumnus."
Taylor Maultz, Associate Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, Hofstra University
"We are so excited to shout out Taylor for her outstanding contributions and dedication to Hofstra University — her passion, innovation, and hard work continue to inspire the Hofstra community! Taylor currently oversees student organization management and training, campus programming, as well as all student leadership programs within the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement at Hofstra."

History
NASPA Region II has long been one of the largest regions (by membership) due to the number of colleges and universities located in the Middle-Atlantic United States. The leadership of Region II strives to recognize the excellent work being done within the region as well building talent at all levels by providing members with professional development and networking opportunities. Each year, Region II celebrates its community of student affairs professionals and students at the Region II Conference, held annually in June. We have several pages dedicated to the history of Region II in an attempt to help create a repository for members to see what we have done and what we still need to do. Feel free to peruse and let us know if we are missing something or there is something that you would like to see!
