Culture of Respect Foundations

Health, Safety, and Well-being Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention, Education, and Response Mid-Level New Professional Senior Level

We all play a role in addressing sexual violence.

Foundations is an online course that prepares current and future student affairs professionals with the tools they need to be influential allies in campus sexual violence prevention and response. The six-module course is taught by NASPA staff with expertise in social work, student affairs, public health, peer education, assessment, and violence prevention. This course is a great follow-up to the introductory Title IX/Clery Act training provided by your institution.

Course Introduction In this session you'll meet the Culture of Respect team, get an overview of the course, and learn about a public health approach to addressing sexual violence. 30 minutes
Evolution of Higher Education's Response to Sexual Violence In this session you will learn about the history of campus activism, media reports, and federal and state legislation of campus sexual violence. 1 hour, 45 minutes
Assessment and Evaluation: What We Know About Campus Sexual Violence and What We Can Learn In this session you will learn about the prevalence and incidence of sexual violence on campus and explore some ways that higher education professionals can evaluate their programs and policies. 1 hour
Trauma-Informed Response to Sexual Misconduct on Campus In this session you will learn about what research tells us about trauma and what best practices strategies are for a trauma-informed response to sexual violence. 1 hour, 45 minutes
Evidence-Based Prevention On Campus In this session you will learn about evidence-based strategies for sexual violence prevention, including peer education and bystander intervention. 1 hour 

Strategies for Collaboration: Participating in Cross-functional Work to Address Sexual Violence

In this session you will learn about the structure of campus-based systems for sexual violence prevention and response. 45 minutes
