Career and Workforce Development Supporting the Profession Community Global Division International Education
The primary purpose of the Global Division is to represent the global interests of NASPA members. The NASPA Global Division represents student affairs educators, practitioners, and professionals around the world.
The Division advances global student affairs issues, advocating for intercultural competency and global awareness throughout the association and in the field of student affairs around the world. The Division advocates for global education, and preparing and implementing programs that support student development and professional development worldwide. Collectively, the Division recommends globally oriented strategies to carry out charges from the NASPA Board of Directors.
Message from the Director
Welcome to the Global Division. We are excited to create a virtual space where colleagues from around the world can explore and engage in global education and initiatives. Our hope is that the Division can connect and engage professionals in rich-filled dialogue about relevant higher education and student affairs and services resources globally. The Global Division is excited to provide resources with multiple insights and perspectives that support our current roles on our campuses and ultimately help provide a broader and deeper understanding of global issues.
The Global Division has the opportunity to encourage us to build together and strengthen the foundations for a new NASPA division, a division that encourages global leaders to develop global voices and share experiences and needs through a common and diverse vision for the future of our organization and profession.
About the Global Division
As a designated NASPA Division, the Global Division guides NASPA’s engagement and support for student affairs professionals around the world through collaboration, research, innovation, and professional development.
The Division fosters collaboration and increases communication across the Association, with similarly aligned organizations, external constituents, and global partners. More specifically, the Division keeps diverse global higher education issues, and professional development in the foreground of the Association, using the NASPA Strategic Plan as a guideline.
The Roles of the Global Division
Advise
Advising the NASPA Board of Directors on setting (charting) strategic direction. The Division will advise the NASPA Board of Directors on charting the strategic direction for international initiatives in NASPA. The Division will coordinate efforts among all global programs and services of the Association, and foster collaboration and increase communication across the organization, with sister associations, external constituents, and global partners.
Create
Creating partnerships and strategic alliances. The Division will be proactive in creating partnerships with other associations and organizations worldwide to build strategic alliances and increase efforts to collaborate on global issues in higher education.
Cultivate
Cultivating and implementing opportunities for engagement, student support, membership, and professional development of Student Affairs and Student Services professionals around the world. The Division will create and implement programs and processes that engage and support NASPA members globally. The Division will lead research and innovation in global initiatives, creating and deploying resources for NASPA members, areas, and regions.
Develop
Developing community and fostering a collaborative spirit among NASPA’s diverse regions. The Division will routinely engage in discourse on global issues, serve as a resource for global student affairs issues, and work collaboratively to best support and give voice to NASPA colleagues worldwide.

CONFERENCES
Annual NASPA Pre-Conference at the NASPA Annual Conference
The annual symposium has taken place since 1994 and typically is a two day pre-conference, at the NASPA Annual Conference, and usually takes place in the spring between March - April.
The conference has grown over the years and annually brings together over one-hundred professionals from across the global and further afield to engage in professional exchanges. The conference structure includes a keynote speaker, concurrent sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, selected panels, and multiple opportunities for networking and engagement.
Annual MENASA Area (Regional) Conference
The annual regional conference has taken place since 2007 and typically is a two day conference, in addition to a one day pre-conference event, and usually takes place in the spring between February-April.
The conference has grown over the years and annually brings together over one-hundred professionals from across the MENASA region and further afield to engage in professional exchanges. The conference structure includes a keynote speaker, concurrent sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, selected panels, and multiple opportunities for networking and engagement.

Ireland Area (Regional) Conference
Collaborate 2025 is an innovative global partnership in student affairs and services between NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education), EucA (European University College Association), and SAI (Student Affairs Ireland), hosted by Munster Technological University.
This partnership aims to leverage diverse perspectives and best practices from across the world to address shared challenges in student support, services, and engagement. The conference will bring together professionals from both student and academic affairs to foster collaborative dialogue that enriches the educational experience and celebrates diverse perspectives (Kezar, 2014). By combining expertise and resources, Collaborate 2025 will drive meaningful advancements in student affairs internationally, enhancing student success and wellbeing across borders.
Annual European Area (Regional) Conference
The annual regional conference has taken place since 2019 and typically is a three day conference, and usually takes place in the fall in November.
The conference has grown over the years and annually brings together over one-hundred professionals from across Europe and further afield to engage in professional exchanges. The conference structure includes a keynote speaker, concurrent sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, selected panels, and multiple opportunities for networking and engagement.

NASPA Global Division Research & Practice Publication - Call for Submissions
Theme - Creating Global Community
Mission/ Purpose:
The first ever NASPA Global Division Research & Practice digital Publication will feature articles from around the world that help advance our collective knowledge and expertise in global student affairs and services. The content of the publication will support scholars and practitioners around the world in providing meaningful and impactful programs and services to students. The editors of the monograph encourage broad participation and are accepting abstract ideas through April 15, 2025. Your input and participation are welcome.
Never published before? No worries!
We are hosting a series of webinars and in-person opportunities to meet other potential authors with similar interests and will provide advice and tips on getting published.
Thursday 6 Februry 2025 | 9:00am Eastern Time
Upon review of abstract submissions by the editors, the lead author will be contacted to provide three types of decisions: Accept, Revise and Resubmit, or Decline. Authors will be provided with editorial feedback, and in some cases authors may be asked to collaborate with other authors who have submitted similar topics or content ideas. Final publication of this monograph will coincide with the 2026 NASPA Annual Conference.
